[Important] Restrictions of Emergency medical treatment

Please let us give priority to medical treatment for people with severe illness who are transported by ambulance, and ask those who are not in emergency conditions to refrain from visiting the ER to avoid the spread of new coronavirus infection.

If you (15years or older) do not have a referral letter from other medical facilities, or you are not visiting this hospital currently (you are not having a next appointment with another department), we might not have your examination at the ER.

[Important] About prohibiting visits

Due to the epidemic of new coronavirus infectious disease (COVID-19), "visitation" is prohibited for the time being.
Except for inpatients’ daily-life support (such as bringing a change of clothes) and visitation requested from hospital, any visitations are prohibited. Japanese Red Cross Osaka Hospital is the first medical institution in Osaka City who got JMIP (Japan Medical Services Accreditation for International Patients) Certification Accredited by Japan Medical Education Foundation.

JMIP is an accreditation system as a third party that promote to establish system for foreign patients to enjoy high quality health services without any concerns. Five evaluation categories are;

1. “System to accept” in multi-lingual
2. “Patient service” along with a consideration of cultural and religious,
3. “Medical management for foreign patients”
4. “Organization system and management” for accepting foreign patients
5. “Efforts for improvement to meet the needs of foreign patients”

Even before having JMIP certification, our hospital has been receiving many foreign patients, and we endeavored to improve our services for foreign patients by preparing our homepage, maps, signs, and documents in multi-lingual, making manuals in each department, assigning an international medical coordinator, providing remote multi-lingual medical interpreter, and so on. As a result, we got the first JMIP certification in Osaka City on 28th April 2020.

We will continue to make efforts to accept more international patients, and to make them feel　more comfortable without concerning language and cultural barriers.

About consultation of new type coronavirus infectious disease and consultation

If you have the following symptoms, please consult the "COVID-19 Consultation Center (Returnee / Contact Person Consultation Center)". As a result of consultation, if you suspect that you are infected with COVID-19, the consultation center will introduce you to a specialized "homecoming / contact outpatient".

[Guidelines for consulting with the consultation center]
If at least one of the following cases, please contact with the consultation center immediately. (You can also consult if you do not fall under these.)

• If you have any of the following symptoms: shortness of breath (dyspnea), strong dullness (fatigue), high fever, etc.
• Those who are prone to serious illness (*) and have relatively mild cold symptoms such as fever and cough (*) Elderly people, people with basic diseases such as diabetes, heart failure, respiratory diseases (COPD, etc.) or patients on dialysis, patients treated with immune-suppressants or anti-cancer agents, etc.
• If you have a relatively mild symptom of fever or cough, etc.
  (Please be sure to consult if symptoms persist for more than 4 days. Symptoms vary from person to person, so if you have any questions, please contact the center immediately.)

■For pregnant women
For pregnant women, just in case, please contact the center as well as those who are prone to serious illness.

■For those with children
For children, consultation with a pediatrician is desirable, so please consult the center or family pediatric medical institution by telephone etc.

Telephone re-examination information

With the notification of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare dated February 28, 2020, the prescription of medicines by telephone examination was approved for regular consultation patients with chronic diseases etc. from the viewpoint of preventing the spread of new coronavirus infection.
At our hospital, if there are ongoing medical appointments, and if the patient wishes to prescribe, we will perform a telephone reexamination and prescription by phone only if the doctor approves. However, there are some prescriptions that cannot be handled by telephone re-examination, and in that case a face-to-face consultation is required. Please contact the outpatient department of each department by telling them that you would like to prescribe by telephone consultation.
